The what, why and Where can I get it

Products listed are in common use at range/classes, and is not an "exhaustive or best" list.

Holsters:

Required - Kydex Outside the Waistband (OWB) :

We suggest Black Scorpion Gear with their Quick Release system. It is very budget friendly and is well made, and very versatile. On their main menu, select "Attachments". There you will find the “Quick Release OWB Holster w/ Male Adaptor”- pick your model of gun for the holster. - $40

Then the attachment - we suggest the Duty Drop & Offset Belt Attachment”. - $20

You could also get the “Quick Release Male Adaptor w/Spacer” for $20, and use it with an existing kydex holster with little to no modifications.

Another budget friendly holster -  Safariland 576 GLS - Pro Fit.  A universal holster with level 2 retention, fits 100+ standard frame guns. Verify firearm fitment with their list. Can be used with the “Male Adaptor w/Spacer” and then the “drop offset attachment” from Black ScorpionGear. This Safariland holster ($40-$60) often in stock or online at Walmart, Scheels, Amazon, Bass Pro, etc...

- "Drop leg", or "thigh" holsters are not allowed for this class.

Belts:

Lots of different belts, 2 common ways to go with belts to mount your holsters and magazine pouches to is:

The inexpensive route - A great 2 belt starter - “Condor LCS Gunbelt” ($35), will get you through until you decide what you really need/want.  Tacticalgear.com, Amazon.

The more expensive route - 2 belt system which is much higher quality and comfort and can last virtually a lifetime. The High Speed Gear 2 belt system: Belt One is the Inner Padded, there is a variety, we suggest the “Laser Slim-Grip Slotted Padded Belt” ($130 on their website), the second part is “outer belt” - a “Riggers Belt” with cobra buckle- we suggest the “Cobra 1.75” Rigger Belt” (without the D ring) ($92). Be sure to follow their specific measurement directions for both belts or you may end up with a belt that doesn’t fit. Also pay attention to the Hook and Loop option, we suggest it even if you don't need it as it stiffens the belt more.  Highspeedgear.com, Amazon.

Magazine Pouches: 3 required

We recommend individual universal double stack magazine pouches made from kydex.  Some can come as a double magazine pouch for cheaper cost but take up more space on the belt and are less versatile. We suggest “Blackhawk” on Amazon. Price varies -$25ish depending on color. Less expensive versions can be found locally at Bimart- "Pitbull" ($13) and others online at Amazon.

AMMO:

1000-1500 rds of factory new range ammo (no home/factory reloaded ammo)

We also discourage bringing aluminum or steel cased range rounds as this ammo can cause malfunctions in some firearms as round count rises.

This class typically runs up to 1000 rounds + during the 3 days. Each class is different, and may require more instructional time, and some less, which can affect the total overall round count. Additionally, those who decide not bring the required or recommended equipment can become a time drain not only for themselves but the whole class, reducing the over all training time and round count.

Electronically Enhanced Hearing Protection( Required):

Too many brands available to list...

We suggest Walkers Razor, or Howard Leight/Impact Sport over the ear muffs- $45-$60 found most everywhere. Also In-the-ear-Buds (Axil) specifically made for firearms use are becoming more popular and available. ($100+)

Electronic hearing protection is required for this course and recommended as a better option in your own personal training so you can hear Instructors directions, and be aware of what's happening around you, at all times.

Safety Glasses: Required

  • z.81 certified or better
  • A clear pair & tinted pair recommended (eg. Wiley X)-Sportsmans, Bimart & Amazon, Bass pro, Schools etc...
  • regular reading or prescription glasses not allowed by themselves but you can use over goggles on top of your prescriptions/readers.

Rentals and/or sales for most Equipment needed are available on an advanced request basis.

Please email us well in advance to check stock and availability of any equip you may need.
